South Coast Man Dies Nearly A Week After Being Shot

A man who was a popular Little League, and basketball coach on the South Coast has died in a hospital nearly a week after he was shot in what may be a random killing.

Angel Ortiz Ramierz was shot April 8th on the 100 block of King Street in Oxnard. Detectives say they don’t know why he was killed. The 32 year old Oxnard man was the father of four young children. It’s Oxnard’s sixth homicide since the beginning of the year.

There’s been a rash of violent crime in the city in the last month, and police say much of it appears to be gang related.
