State Senators, Assembly Members For Central And South Coasts Officially Begin New Terms

The Central and South Coast’s representation in Sacramento took on both a familiar and new look, with four people being sworn into new terms of office today.

Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara was sworn in for her second term. The 19th District Senator represents all of Santa Barbara County, and western Ventura County. Jackson was joined by Democratic State Senator Henry Stern of Canoga Park. The attorney, and college instructor was elected last month to represent the 27th State Senate District, which includes eastern Ventura County and western Los Angeles County. The first time legislator fills the seat held by Fran Pavely, who decided not to seek re-election.

And, the South Coast has one new and one returning State Assembly member today. Democratic State Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin was re-elected to the 44th Assembly District, based in Thousand Oaks. Monique Limon took the oath of office as the new 37th District Assemblywoman. The Santa Barbara Democrat will represent the region from Buellton to Oxnard.
