Unemployment Dips On Central, South Coasts; State Numbers Lowest In Nine Years

There’s good news about the unemployment picture on the Central and South Coasts.

The jobless rate in Ventura County dropped from 4.7% in April to 4.5% in May. Santa Barbara County’s numbers look even better, dipping from 4.5% in April to an even 4% in May. And, in San Luis Obispo County the percentage of people out of work went from 3.9% in April, to 3.5% in May.

The statewide unemployment rate for May is the lowest in nine years. It’s 5.2%, down from 5.3% in April.
