Ventura County firefighters have fully contained a brush fire in the rugged hills northeast of the City of Ventura which caused a scare yesterday.
The fire was discovered in the Long Canyon area just after 11 yesterday morning. The fire moved rapidly through the canyon, but firefighters aided by helicopters and air tankers were able to stop its growth at around 20 acres. No homes were threatened, but firefighters were concerned about some high capacity power lines in the area.
At its peak, about 250 firefighters battled the blaze, but most of the crews were released before sunset yesterday. It was fully contained just before 1 this afternoon.
