Rifle, Ammo Found In Vehicle Of Student Involved In Confrontation At South Coast High School

Ventura Police say they found a rifle, ammunition, and other weapons in the car of a high school student who got into a confrontation with a teacher today.

A Buena High School student got into an argument with a teacher during the lunch hour today. The teacher sent the student to the school office, but she told school officials he used the word gun as he was leaving.  The entire campus was put on lockdown.

Ventura Police say the 16 year old student was unarmed, but when they searched his car, they found a rifle, ammunition, and other weapons.

The lockdown was lifted about an hour later. Parents were notified of what occurred by e-mail, and phone.

The teen was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm in a school zone, and possession of a dangerous weapon on campus.
