A Ventura County congresswoman has introduced legislation to insure that the families of TSA employees who die in the line of duty get the same benefits as other federal law enforcement officers.
The issue came up after the shooting death of a TSA officer at Los Angeles International Airport in 2013.
After officials realized the lack of coverage, Congress passed special legislation to help the family of Gerardo Hernandez.
Now, Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village has proposed a bill which would make the coverage for TSA workers killed in the line of duty automatic.
