Heat Wave On Way For Central, South Coasts

What could be the biggest heat wave of the year is on the way for the Central and South Coasts, but it’s not expected to hit us until after the Fourth of July.

The good news has to do with what you are probably most focused on right now, the Fourth of July.

A weak upper level trough, and onshore flow could mean slighty below normal temperatures for the holiday. The coastal marine layer will be around Wednesday morning, but it’s expected to clear earlier than it did Tuesday, which is important because of the fireworks shows which are planned.

Then, high pressure will start to drive up temperatures Thursday. We could see some record highs Friday and Saturday. There’s also expected to be a high brush fire potential. The heat wave is expected to ease as we move into the new week.
