New COVID-19 Case Count Still Trending Down On Central, South Coasts; 393 Reported Over Three Days

The number of new COVID-19 cases on the Central and South Coasts is continuing its downward trend.  393 were reported in the Tri-Counties from Saturday through Monday.   Ventura County had 221 over the three-day period, Santa Barbara County 147, and San Luis Obispo County just 25.

San Luis Obispo County’s improved numbers moved it into the state’s red tier last week, which allowed the loosening of more restrictions.  Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties are still in the most restrictive purple tier, but public health officials say they are getting close to a move.

15 additional COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the region over the three day period, including 12 in Ventura County, two in Santa Barbara County and one in Ventura County.

There have now been 1566 COVID-19 related deaths in the three counties since the start of the pandemic.
