Santa Barbara County Public Health Officials On COVID-19 Crisis: "The Situation Is Dire"

Santa Barbara County officials say the county’s COVID-19 situation has become dire.

Santa Barbara County Public Health officials say the county’s hospitals are running out of staffed hospital ICU beds.  The official percentage of available ICU beds is at this point is at less than one percent.

Santa Barbara County Public Health Officer Dr. Henning Ansorg says he’s frustrated.  He says many people are blatantly ignoring warnings over things like wearing masks.

Dr. Ansorg believes that we are seeing the impacts of a holiday season surge, one he thinks could be amplified by Christmas and New Year’s.
