New Coronavirus Case Count On Central, South Coasts Increasing In Parts Of Region


We’re seeing a surge in the number of new coronavirus cases on parts of the Central and South Coasts.

Ventura County is reporting 147 new cases, and San Luis Obispo County 72.  They are some of the highest totals for the two counties in days.  Santa Barbara County had 39 additional cases.

It pushes the region’s total since the start of the pandemic to more than 29,700.  Ventura County stands at 15,048 overall cases, Santa Barbara County has had 10,128, and San Luis Obispo County 4566. 

The counties all remain on the state’s red tier, with limited reopenings.

There have been 333 coronavirus related deaths in the three counties.  Ventura County has had 169 deaths, Santa Barbara County 131, which is up one from Thursday, and San Luis Obispo County 33.  Most of the deaths continue to be older adults with pre-existing health conditions.
