New Coronavirus Case Totals For Central, South Coasts Continue Downward Trend Over Weekend

More than 300 new coronavirus cases were reported on the Central and South Coasts Saturday through Monday, continuing an overall downward trend in cases for the region.

Ventura County had 165 cases, Santa Barbara County 94 and San Luis Obispo County 53.  Lower new cases numbers allowed San Luis Obispo County to meet state guidelines for more reopenings last week.  Santa Barbara County officials say they are hoping to do the same this week, when the state releases its updated rankings Tuesday.

The region has surged past the 25,000 mark when it comes to total cases, with more than 25,300 in the region since the start of the pandemic.   Most of those diagnosed with the virus have already recovered.

The total number of deaths in the region stands at 292, with 150 in Ventura County, 113 in Santa Barbara County and 29 in San Luis Obispo County.
