More Than 400 New Coronavirus Cases Reported On Central, South Coasts

There’s a big bump in the battle against coronavirus on the Central and South Coasts, with the latest count showing a large number of new cases.  433 new cases are being reported in the region.  But, questions continue about the accuracy of numbers being reported, with the state still not having all of the issues linked with data reporting resolved.

Ventura County has 181 additional cases, Santa Barbara County 137, and San Luis Obispo County 115.  79 of San Luis Obispo County’s cases are linked to an outbreak at the California Men’s Colony prison facility.  More than 18,800 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the three-county region, with most of them already recovered.

Health officials in the region report that numbers may still be off because of ongoing issues with the state health department’s database.  But, all three counties continue to fail to meet the full list of state metrics for the easing of shutdown orders.

Three additional coronavirus related deaths have been reported on the Central and South Coasts, bringing the overall total to 190.
