Santa Barbara County Prepares For Election Season Unlike Any Other

More than a month before ballots arrive, officials are saying that "this election is going to be different than any other."

That's according to Joe Holland, the Registrar of Voters in Santa Barbara County.

Every voter will be receiving a mail-in ballot, and Holland says that they'll be concentrating the number of voting locations.

"Instead of 86 polling places on election day, we're going to have 25 to 30 in-person voting locations," Holland says.

Those locations will be open over a number of days, from Saturday, October 31, through Election Day, November 3, which will increase the need for poll workers.

Holland adds that a number of special election mailboxes will be set up throughout the county in secure locations.

For those interested in using the postal services for their mail-in ballots, Hollands says that despite the recent political troubles roiling the USPS, he is "confident that the United States Post Office in Santa Barbara County is going to handle all these ballots. We are going to have an unprecedented turnout, so we are encouraging everyone to vote early.
