Central Coast University Announces Entrants Into Summer Startup Accelerator Program

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's Hothouse has announced its selections for a summer program aimed at giving startups and entrepreneurs a boost.

While in absolute business terms, $10,000 isn’t that much money, for some recent grads developing a product, it’s not nothing.

Sierra scolaro, a co-founder of Wayve Filtration, a portable water filter for attaching to a different sources of tap water, says the $10,000 will go a long way for a project in the very early stages.

Wayve is one of 7 projects getting funding as part of their admittance into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Hothouse, which also provides legal info, mentorship, and business resources to its members.

Scolaro says that while Wayve has a long way to go, the morale boost from starting in the hothouse is a great leg up already.

Andy worked at KCLU from 2016 until 2022.
