Fatal Accident Backs Up Traffic For Miles On South Coast

On a tight two lane section of Highway 101 south of Santa Barbara, a fatal accident significantly backed up traffic for miles Monday afternoon.

It happened about 3:30.

Two trucks and a motorcycle were involved. The cause has not been determined and remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries at the scene and died later. No other details or an identification have been released.

Traffic was backed up to Goleta during the peak afternoon commute hours.

Alternate routes including Cliff Drive, Las Positas and Cabrillo Boulevard were jammed for more than two hours.
