It’s off into space! An on again, off again rocket launch planned for the Central Coast finally took place Thursday morning.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base had been delayed by weather and technical issues for more than a week.
SpaceX was originally planning to launch the rocket carrying 51 Starlink communications satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base on January 9. The big storm delayed it, and then a combination of technical issues and another storm pushed it back multiple times.
It took place at 7:43 a.m. Thursday. The first stage, reusable booster successfully landed on a barge off the coast of Baja California, and the second stage with the satellites is now in orbit.
