The SpaceX Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base was delayed by weather and technical issues.

An on again, off again rocket launch planned for the Central Coast is now on again…this time for Thursday morning.

SpaceX was originally planning to launch a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 51 Starlink communications satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base January 9. The big storm delayed it, and then a combination of technical issues and another storm pushed it back multiple times.

Now, it’s set for 7:43 a.m. Thursday. If the weather cooperates, the launch should be visible throughout much of the Tri-Counties. The reusable booster is set to land on a barge off of Baja California, so no sonic booms are expected across the region as a result of the flight.
