Issue during engine test prompted delay of Falcon 9 rocket launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

It could have been a big show Friday night in the Tri-Counties. But now, we’re not sure when the rocket launch originally scheduled for Friday will take place.

SpaceX planned to launch a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 52 small satellites into orbit from Vandenberg Space Force Base. But, the launch team put the mission on hold after they noticed an issue during the rocket’s test firing Thursday.

If for some reason the rocket is ready, there is a second launch opportunity at 8:19 p.m. Sunday night.

The first stage booster will once again land on a barge off of Baja California, so no sonic boom is expected in our region from the flight. The Starlink satellites are part of a growing network intended to provide internet service for underserved parts of the world.
