SUV's driver arrested on DUI and other charges.

A South Coast police officer is recovering from injuries he suffered when his patrol unit was sideswiped by a passing SUV.

It happened on West Alamar Avenue in Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara Police officer was in his parked unit working on a report from a just completed service call when his vehicle was sideswiped.

Fortunately, the injuries were minor, and the officer is expected to return to duty soon. Other officers arriving on the scene took over the investigation.

They arrested the Santa Barbara man driving the SUV which hit the patrol unit on DUI, and other charges. Investigators say Jeremy Joe Patterson was already on probation from a previous DUI case.
