New COVID-19 case count for Central, South Coasts remains high

New COVID-19 case numbers continue to remain high on the Central and South Coasts.

More than 5,400 more people test positive for the virus in the Tri-Counties since mid-week.

There are some more big new COVID-19 case numbers on Friday for the Central and South Coasts. In all three counties, about one in five being tested through official test sites are turning up positive.

Ventura County is reporting 1,300 new cases since Wednesday. The good news is that the total shows a drop in daily numbers. The testing positivity rate remains high, at 23 percent.

Santa Barbara County had 1,421 new cases as a one-day total Friday. It’s test positivity rate is at 20%

San Luis Obispo County is posting some of its highest new case numbers since the start of the pandemic, with 2,710 additional cases since Tuesday.

The positive test rate for the county is at 23%.
