A South Coast maritime museum has closed its doors as a safety precaution as a result of the latest COVID-19 surge.
Plans call for the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum to remain closed through January 21, but museum officials say reopening is dependent on the status of the surge.
The closure also includes the museum's store, and a visitor's center which provides information on outdoor activities in the area.
The more than two decade old museum at Santa Barbara's Harbor offers marine science and marine history exhibitions and programs.
