An Oxnard man has pled guilty to first-degree murder for the shooting death of his wife.

The Oxnard man is expected to get a 35-years-to-life sentence.

There’s an end in sight to a murder case which tore apart a South Coast family.

Ventura County prosecutors say Alfredo Ortiz pled guilty to first-degree murder for the January 2017 shooting death of his wife.

The shooting took place in front of the family’s six children, who were between the ages of two and 16 years old at the time. The 38-year-old man fled after the shooting in Oxnard, but was arrested in Somis the next day.

Ortiz is expected to get a 35-years-to-life sentence when he appears in court for sentencing in November.
