Body Of Missing Hiker Found On South Coast

Ventura County Sheriff's Office
The body of a missing hiker has been found in Ventura County.

A man disappeared in Ventura County on Tuesday.

The search for a missing hiker on the South Coast had a tragic ending.

James Ledbetter of Thousand Oaks went for a hike Tuesday night in the Lang Ranch area. When he failed to return home, his wife called the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

A search was started with a search and rescue team, a K-9, deputies on horses and a helicopter. They failed to find any sign of him Tuesday night and Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, some hikers spotted the 60-year-old man's body just off of a trail.

Detectives believed he fell off the trail, and suffered a fatal head injury.
