The Ventura County Community College District is requiring people to get COVID-19 vaccinations. Students who don't comply will have to take remote classes.

The new Ventura County Community College Campus rule takes effect October 15.

A South Coast community college district is requiring that all of its staff members and students be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Ventura County Community College District will enforce the mandate as of October 15, delaying implementation to give people ample time to get shots. District trustees approved the new requirement this week.

District officials say they will develop accommodations for people with verified medical conditions, or conflicting religious beliefs. Students who don’t comply by the October deadline will have to switch to online classes. The district is also requiring everyone wear masks indoors at campus facilities, regardless of vaccination status.

The district has more than 30,000 students at its campuses in Ventura, Oxnard, Moorpark and Santa Paula.
