Arrest Made In South Coast Murder

Suspected gunman held in Ventura County Jail

An Oxnard man has been arrested following an intensive ten day investigation into a murder on the South Coast.

On April 4th, Cristobal Gonzales was shot on Howell Road in Oxnard, The 21-year-old man died a short time later at a hospital.

Detectives aren’t talking about what they think led to the shooting, but because of the nature of the case, the police department’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the FBI were called in to help.

It led to the arrest of 20-year-old Jason Armenta Wednesday. He's being held at the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
