Some new faces joined the leadership of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties this week.
Carmen Ramirez was sworn in this week as a Ventura County Supervisor. Ramirez was a longtime member of the Oxnard City Council. She’ll represent Ventura County’s Fifth District.
The district includes Oxnard, El Rio, Channel Islands Harbor, and parts of Naval Base Ventura County. She replaces John Zaragoza, who had to leave the board because of term limits.
Ramirez is the first ever Latina elected to the board.
And, Bob Nelson took the oath of office as Santa Barbara County’s Fourth District Supervisor. Nelson know the turf well. He served as Chief of Staff for Peter Adam, who held the post for eight years. Adam decided not to seek re-election.
The Fourth District includes Orcutt, Lompoc, plus parts of the Santa Maria and Los Alamos Valleys.
