An oil and gas company seeking to expand its facilities on the South Coast is instead in hot water for what it already has on the site. Ventura County Supervisors could force the company to redo some of its existing facilities which don’t comply with permits.
Peak Oil applied for permits to add more than 70 new oil and gas wells to its 120 acre site off of Sturgis Road, just east of Oxnard. But, Ventura County Planning officials visiting the site say they found a number of facilities there don’t match the property’s permits.
In a memo the County Supervisors, they say a number of things are configured differently than originally proposed. The company told the county that some of the facilities are temporary. But, County Planners question that argument, noting some of what’s been on the site has been there for several years.
The County Planning Commission rejected Peak Oil’s arguments. The company appealed to County Supervisors. But, staff is recommending that they also reject the company’s appeal, and force it to fully comply with the permit.
