The investiture was delayed by two years by the pandemic.

A Chumash welcome... and the national anthem - as Richard Yao was formally named as the President of Cal State Channel Islands.

"It's a ceremony that allows him to set his vision," Jolene Koester, Interim Chancellor of California State Universities, told KCLU.

"It's a ceremony that allows the community to come together and celebrate not just him, but most importantly this university and what it means to students and their families and this region," said Koester.

Yao’s investiture has been delayed by the pandemic, and Koester says it’s also a significant way for the University to mark their 20th anniversary.
