As well as job vacancies, there’s support for those moving from a job in the military to civilian life on benefits and local service providers at Ventura County's Military and Veteran Job Expo.
Ventura County Veteran Services Officer Jim McHugh says vets have a lot to offer the job market.
"We have over 40,000 veterans in the county," he told KCLU. "By hiring a veteran, these veterans are dedicated individuals and dedicated workers."
"They've got skills coming out that a lot of folks don't have. What's sometimes difficult for a veteran is translating the skills they acquired in service to the civilian world and that's another reason for being face to face and be able to talk to the employer," said McHugh.
The Job Expo takes places on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ventura County Office of Education in Camarillo.
