What was initially called vandalism at a Central Coast high school is now being called a hate crime.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Cabrillo High School in Lompoc Tuesday morning by reports the campus had been vandalized.
But, school staff members and deputies discovered that racial slurs had been painted on walls, windows, and even over murals.
Someone also dumped wet cement in front of some classroom doors in an effort to prevent them from opening. Detectives are hoping someone may have seen activity in the area of the school late Monday night or early Tuesday morning which might help identify the criminals.
