A Ventura County congresswoman thinks we need to do more to protect marine mammals, and has introduced legislation to try to make that happen.

Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village has authored a bill focused on beefing up the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

It would provide new protections against people interacting with or harassing marine mammals.  It also calls for federal agencies to do more to identify marine mammals which may be at risk because of climate change, and to develop plans to help protect them.
