Some federal prosecutors will serve as District Election Officers for the Central and South Coasts for the November 3rd General Election, handling concerns about issues like potential election fraud. Two prosecutors from the Department of Justice’s Central District of California will be focused on the election process in the region.
If complaints are received, the Assistant United States Attorneys will work with the FBI to investigate them. They would look at issues like people impersonating voters to ballot box stuffing.
The prosecutors will handle voting related complaints received for Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties, as well as four other Southern California counties.
Having prosecutors serve as District Election Officers during General Elections is a routine process, but there is added interest because of concerns about the attention this year on the potential for election fraud.
