A crackdown on street racing on the South Coast has led to two arrests, and 80 citations. Oxnard Police and the CHP teamed up for the nighttime operation prompted by a recent increase in street racing incidents.
Oxnard Police say they have been receiving complaints about things like reckless driving, large gatherings in business parking lots, and drinking in public.
Investigators say since 2017, they’ve had eight fatal collisions due to dangerous driving in the city. There’s been one illegal street racing crash during that period which led to three deaths.
