A Ventura County Sheriff's sergeant is recovering from minor injuries after investigators say someone intentionally rammed his patrol unit.

It happened early Tuesday morning, in Saticoy.  The sergeant was in the SUV just afer 2 a.m. on Highway 118 near Campus Drive.

Investigators say another SUV rammed the patrol vehicle twice, and then fled.

The injured officer was able to radio for help.  Other officers spotted the fleeing vehicle.  A chase ended when the driver, identified as Frankie Avalos, crashed in Santa Paula.  He was arrested for attempted murder of a police officer.
