Three men have been cited in connection with a string of vandalism incidents involving a “Black Live Matters” sign in Ventura County. It’s a tarp hung on a fence on Classic Rose Court in Thousand Oaks. After it was vandalized, the sign’s owner put up a surveillance camera.
Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say they recognized one of the vandals as a civilian employee of the agency. They say Darrin Stone is a technician in the county’s jail system. He’s been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.
The second person cited was a non-sworn investigative assistant with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office. Craig Anderson had only been with the DA’s office a few months. Officials say he resigned following the incident.
And, detectives say a third Thousand Oaks man, Jeffrey Moore, was cited after he was caught on video spray painting the sign. They say he was driving a marked work truck which made it easy to find him.
