The first missile launch of the year from the Central Coast is set for this week. The Air Force is planning to launch an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base early Wednesday morning.
The launch window is from 12:08 to 6:08 a.m. Wednesday.. The Air Force periodically does Minuteman test launch from the base, as part of efforts to test crew and equipment readiness.
The missiles are typically flown more than 4000 miles to a test range in the South Pacific.
If weather conditions permit, the lanch should be visible throughout much of the Central and South Coasts.
