A small area of the South Coast could be impacted by public safety power shutoffs later this week because of high potential wildfire danger.
Southern California Edison issued a preliminary alert that it’s considering the moves for parts of San Marcos Pass, and some areas outside of Goleta. About 4600 customers would be affected if the power is shut down.
State regulators have cleared utilities to make the moves if there are weather conditions in high fire danger areas which reach potentially dangerous levels. The areas potentially impacted includes parts of what’s known as “Noleta.” That's the unincorporated areas between Goleta and Santa Barbara.
If it were to happen, it could potentially happen Friday and Saturday, but Edison officials say final decisions haven't been made yet.
