A Central Coast city has approved a settlement in a lawsuit against a landlord they say had more than 4,000 building and code violations at his properties. Santa Maria sued Dario Pini after inspectors say he failed to resolve thousands of violations at his more than 500 apartment, boardinghouse, and mobile home units in the city.
City officials say issues ranged from structural and electrical hazards to bedbug infestations. The settlement approved by the city council calls for Pini to reimburse the city more than $330,000 in expenses, and continue renovations and repairs at his properties.
Work has already been completed at a number of the housing units.
