The Central and South Coast have their first reported measles case of 2019. The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reports that a Santa Barbara man in his 20’s tested positive for the virus. He’s been in isolation since Wednesday.
County Health officials say they’ve been contacting, and interviewing people he may have been in contact with in the area.
Because he recently traveled around the state, they have also been in touch with health officials in Ventura County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County and San Francisco. Measles cases nationwide have hit a 25 year high, with nearly a thousand reported since the first of the year.
Health officials say this latest case emphasizes that you should make sure you and your family are up to date on vaccinations.
