Investigators at Monday's officer involved shooting scene at the Ventura County Government Center

What started as a traffic stop by a police officer on the South Coast led to an altercation, and an officer involved shooting. A police officer was hurt, and a man critically injured in the Monday morning incident in the Ventura County Government Center parking lot.

Investigators say a Ventura Police Sergeant stopped the vehicle, there was a physical altercation, and the officer shot the 37 year old Ventura man. The officer was treated for minor injuries. The name of the man hasn’t been released yet. No one else was hurt.
