Two people are dead, and more than a half dozen injured after a big rig slammed into some vehicles at a Central Coast intersection. The crash happened just before 6:30 Thursday morning, at the intersection of Highway 135 and Union Valley Parkway in Orcutt.

CHP investigators say a tractor-trailer rig approached the intersection and for some reason slammed into five vehicles, turning onto its side.

Two people in one of the vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene, and several other suffered minor injuries. The driver of the truck was arrested on a DUI charge.
