Health officials have issued a warning about the potential danger from poisonous mushrooms on the Central and South Coasts.
Recent rainfall has led to the growth of a number of types of wild mushrooms in the region.
While a few types are edible, many can cause illness or even death among people and pets.
The California Poison Control System reports nearly 700 human cases of mushroom poisoning in the last year. More than half the cases involved children under the age of five.
