An oil field waste management disposal company has reached a settlement with Ventura County over allegations it violated state law by handling hazardous materials. Ventura County prosecutors say Anterra Energy Services, and its affiliated companies are licensed to handle non-hazardous materials coming from gas and oil wells. But, in their complaint prosecutors claimed the Santa Paula based company also received some hazardous materials.
The settlement requires Anterra to do comprehensive screening for unauthorized materials. It would also have to share test results on an ongoing basis with Ventura County Environmental Health experts.
The deal calls for Anterra to pay $500,000 in penalties, fees, and for the costs of the investigation. Anterra operates an oil field waste management disposal facility in Oxnard.
