A dog is okay after a very close call at a South Coast beach, falling some 125 feet down a cliff, and becoming stuck on a ledge.

It happened at about 11:30 Sunday morning in Santa Barbara’s Douglas Preserve.

Santa Barbara firefighters were called to the scene to help. A rope system was set up, and a firefighter was able to rappel down the cliff to reach the dog. The dog was then lowered to the beach below, and reunited with its owner.

Despite the huge fall, the dog apparently escaped without serious injury.
