Firefighters continue to make progress towards full containment of a brush fire burning in the Los Padres National Forest, in Santa Barbara County.
The Front Fire has been burning since Sunday afternoon in a remote area off of Highway 166 northeast of Santa Maria. The fire has burned nearly 940 acres of land, and containment is at 61%.
No structures are threatened by the blaze. Rugged terrain in the area has made the fire tough to fight. More than 600 people are now involved in the effort, with full containment now projected for late this weekend.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
