Some just released statistics show Ventura and Santa Barbara County high school graduation rates are outperforming statewide numbers.
Ventura County has an 86% graduation rate for the 2016-17 school year, and Santa Barbara County’s 87%. That compares with 83% statewide.
However, both counties are under the statewide average of 50% for graduates who meet admissions requirements for UC, and Cal State campuses. 46% of Ventura County grads from the 2016-17 school year meet the requirements, and 34% of Santa Barbara County graduates hit the admissions bar.
Because of a change in the way the statistics are compiled, there’s no way to do an accurate year to year comparison.
