Five Hurt In Crash On PCH In Ventura County; Highway Closed For Five Hours

A head-on crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County Thursday night sent one of the vehicles into the ocean

Five people were hurt in a head-on collision on the Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County which sent one of the vehicles careening into the ocean.

It happened just after 5:30 Thursday night, south of Mugu Rock. CHP officers say the two people in the car which went off the highway into the ocean were thrown from the vehicle. They swam to shore. 

One of the most seriously injured victims of the crash had to be airlifted to a hospital. Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the head-on collision.

The PCH was closed for five hours by the wreck, but was open again by 11.
