The Ventura County Fire Department has identified one of its firefighters killed in a traffic accident in Santa Barbara County.

Engineer Ryan Osler died in the accident just after six this morning, outside of Lompoc. He was in a water tender involved in efforts to fight the Canyon Fire. The CHP says the accident happened off of Highway 246 near Purisma Road.

The truck ended up on its side. Osler was fatally injured, and another firefighter was injured.  CHP investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened.
