Santa Barbara County's Sherpa brush fire has grown to 7800 acres but is now also at 45% containment.

No homes have been lost to the fire, but 270 houses and ranches are still considered to be threatened.

Firefighters got a break from the strong sundowner winds which caused big problems Wednesday and Thursday nights. National Weather Service forecasters say there are concerns that we could see stronger sundowners Sunday night.

More than 1900 firefighters aided by 20 plus aircraft are fighting the fire.  One of the issues firefighters are facing is that rugged terrain is making it difficult to build containment lines on the eastern side of the fire, which is about six miles west of Goleta.

The original mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect with no new additions since Thursday. They include Refugio Canyon, Canada del Venadito Canyon, Las Flores Canyon, El Capitan Canyon, El Capitan Ranch, El Capitan State Beach, and Canada de la Destiladera.
