National Sporting Goods Chain Announces Shutdown, Including Six Central and South Coast Stores

A national sporting goods chain with a half dozen outlets on the Central and South Coasts has announced it will close all of its stores.

Sports Authority filed for bankruptcy in March, in an effort to save the company, At the time, plans to close 140 of its more than 160 stores were announced, including three outlets in our region. But, the company was unable to successfully reach agreements with its creditors and lenders, so the chain will be liquidated.

The company has stores locally in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Ventura, Goleta, and San Luis Obispo. No timetable has been announced for the shutdown.
